First-Generation Scholarships

Scholarship applications are now open.

First-generation college students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs in The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences on Arizona State University's Tempe campus may apply for more than $10,000 in scholarships. First-generation scholarship applications for 2022-2023 open on Monday, September 13, 2021.

There are several different scholarships with varied application criteria. Only one application is required for all scholarships – except the Faire Elizabeth Virgin Sax Scholarship and the Irwin R. Sheer and Yvonne H. Sheer Endowed Scholarship. Students will be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.

Scholarships

First-generation scholarships

The scholarships listed below are open to students in all majors in The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences on ASU's Tempe campus (all scholarship amounts are approximate).

  • The College Alumni First-Generation Scholarship (three scholarships at approximately $1,500 each)
  • The College Dean's First-Generation Scholarship (three scholarships at approximately $1,000 each)
  • Dean’s Advancement Council First-Generation Scholarship (one scholarship at approximately $1,500)
  • Helen and Ong C. Hing Family First-Generation Scholarship (one scholarship at approximately $2,400)
  • Al and Viola Madrid Endowed Scholarship (one scholarship at approximately $2,000)
  • McKee Family Scholarship (one scholarship at approximately $1,000)
  • John Rockefeller First-Generation Scholarship (one scholarship at approximately $1,200)
  • Irwin R. Sheer and Yvonne H. Sheer Endowed Scholarship (three scholarships at approximately $2,000 each)
  • Faire Elizabeth Virgin Sax Scholarships (up to two scholarships at approximately $12,388 each)
  • Marco Fierro Scholarship (three scholarships at approximately $1,300 each)

There are also first-generation scholarships available for students in specific majors.

Application Process

The application and selection process

Applications for the 2022-2023 first-generation scholarships are now open. Only one application is required for all scholarships, except the Faire Elizabeth Virgin Sax Scholarship and the Irwin R. Sheer and Yvonne H. Sheer Endowed Scholarship. Students will be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.

The scholarship application will close on January 21, 2022.

Students must complete and submit an application through ASU's Scholarship Portal
