Friday, May 10, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. - Gold Ceremony

Mountain America Stadium
500 E Veterans Way, Tempe, AZ 85287

The College's Spring Convocation will be split into two ceremonies: Maroon Ceremony on Thursday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. and Gold Ceremony on Friday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m. The ceremonies will be split by academic unit to divide the number of graduating students as evenly as possible. Once the RSVP portal opens for spring ceremonies (scheduled for late February), graduates will only be able to register for the ceremony to which their academic unit has been assigned. Students who are graduating with multiple degrees from The College whose degrees are represented in the different ceremonies will have the option to RSVP to both ceremonies or can choose to attend just one, during which they will be recognized for all of their degrees. All graduating students will be individually recognized as they walk across the stage and receive their diploma cover.

Ceremony information for graduating students

  • Tickets are NOT necessary for graduates or guests.
  • Graduates are required to stay seated in the student section for the duration of the ceremony.
  • Sun Devil Stadium observes ASU’s clear bag policy. View the policy and a list of both allowed and prohibited items here. Please note that umbrellas are not permitted. In the event of rain, graduates may bring a poncho.
  • Check-in: Check-in is from 6-7:15 p.m. Graduating students must enter through the southeast gates of Sun Devil Stadium. Check-in is located under the south bleachers, just inside the southeast gates. Follow the signs to find your check-in location based on the first letter of your last name. Pick up your “Reader Card” at the check-in table and proceed through the tunnels to the field. The Reader Card is used to identify you when you cross the stage to receive your diploma cover.
  • Late check-in: If you arrive after 7:15 p.m., you will not be able to get your Reader Card and your name will not be called during the ceremony. If you show up after the ceremony has started, you are not guaranteed a seat.
  • Seating arrangements: Graduating student seating is not alphabetical or by major/degree – you get to sit with your friends in the student section.
  • Graduates with ADA needs: If you, the graduate, will require special accommodations during the ceremony, please indicate your needs on the RSVP form, which you can access from your myASU page.
  • Cap and gown: You must wear your cap and gown throughout the ceremony. You can order your cap and gown here until 11:59 p.m. on April 8. After this date, you will only be able to purchase graduation regalia through the campus bookstore. Click here to learn how to wear the undergraduate cap and gown and here for the graduate regalia. At Convocation, you will wear your tassel on the left as you will have officially graduated on Monday, May 6 at University Commencement.
  • Honors cords will not be available at the ceremony. If you qualify for honors cords (undergraduates with a GPA of 3.4 or higher), you can pick up those cords at the University Registrar’s Office. ASU Online students who have earned honor cords will receive them via mail. They will be mailed automatically to eligible students based on the requirements listed here.
  • Diplomas: If your university academic requirements are met, you will receive your diploma in the mail. Diplomas are mailed approximately eight weeks after the degree conferral date. Graduates will receive an email notification via their ASU email account when their diploma has been mailed. Diplomas are mailed to the student's diploma mailing address, which can be viewed and updated from My ASU. For more information, visit
