Welcome to The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the academic heart of Arizona State University. As the largest college in ASU, our community is comprised of passionate students, award-winning faculty and engaged staff, all working together to create and bring applicable change to the world.
I came to ASU in 2006, inspired by the transformative research and discovery that was taking place on campus. As a founding faculty member at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix in partnership with Arizona State University, I have seen firsthand the cutting-edge innovation that ASU is known for. As a faculty member in the School of Life Sciences and dean of natural sciences, I was able to excel as a genome biologist, in addition to championing the work of my colleagues. Now, as incoming senior vice provost and dean of The College, I am enthusiastic about advancing use-inspired research and educating the next generation in the power of language, culture and society, critical thinking, scientific exploration and discovery.
I look forward to continuing The College’s success in creating supportive environments for all learners. The College prides itself on our first-of-their-kind degree programs, world-class research and innovative learning experiences and I know we will be pushing the limits of those points of pride in the future.
Leading the largest and highly diverse college at ASU will be a welcomed challenge, and with the encouragement and assistance of The College and ASU communities, I will continue to empower our students, support our local communities and produce cutting-edge solutions to life’s biggest questions.
Thank you in advance for your continued support,
Kenro Kusumi
Dean, The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
