Centralized support for compliant research proposal submission
Proposal submission support
Welcome to The College research support services. All proposals submitted externally to sponsors — including federal, nonprofit, foundation and industry sponsors — must go through ASU’s formal approval process. The College’s research administration team is here to help faculty develop competitive proposals and submit them accurately, efficiently and on time.
From identifying sponsor requirements and developing a submission plan to preparing budgets, completing institutional forms and routing proposals for approval, our team can support you through the process.
Plan ahead: Submit the research proposal intake form below at least three weeks before your sponsor deadline (six weeks for complex proposals). This gives our pre-award team time to assign a research administrator and begin coordinating your submission.
Please complete the information to the best of your knowledge. Our research administrators understand that not all information may be available during the intake process, so it is best to fill out this form as early as possible so our team can begin the process and work with you to guide the next steps.
Research proposal intake form
Request proposal support by completing a research intake form. Submitting the form helps The College research team understand your proposal needs and coordinate timely support for proposal development and submission. Our team will be able to help even if all items are not completed in the intake form.
Pre-award support
All proposals to external sponsors should be processed by The College’s pre-award team. Submitting your intake form at least three weeks before the sponsor deadline is the first step in getting your proposal assigned to a research administrator.
Post-award support
Provided through a combination of unit-level and centralized resources across The College, post-award support structures vary by division and unit. For questions, contact Dayna Molyneaux, assistant director for post-award Research Advancement.

Finding the right funding opportunity or research collaborator is an important first step in developing a successful proposal. Explore these resources to identify funding opportunities, stay informed about new opportunities and connect with potential collaborators.
Funding.asu.edu
Explore funding opportunities available to ASU researchers and sign up for weekly notifications about funding information, events and limited submission opportunities.
Limited submissions
Some sponsors restrict institutions to one or a limited number of applications. These opportunities require an internal selection process and have specific deadlines and procedures.
Pivot
Pivot is a global database of funding opportunities and scholars that allows ASU faculty, staff and students to search for funding and identify potential collaborators.
Sponsor sites
Grants.gov provides a broad database of federal funding opportunities. Researchers should also visit individual federal sponsor websites to learn about current opportunities and sponsor priorities.
Foundation and nonprofit sponsors
Pivot and other funding databases can help identify foundation and nonprofit funding opportunities. ASU researchers also have access to Candid for funding research.
Experts.ASU
Connect with ASU colleagues, explore research interests and identify potential collaborators through Experts.ASU.
Research compliance resources help researchers understand and meet the ethical, regulatory and institutional requirements that apply to conducting research at ASU.

Responsible Conduct of Research training

Knowledge Enterprise Research Development offers support for grant proposal editing, journal manuscripts and book proposals.

Data management and sharing plans
Access resources to help develop data management and sharing plans, including guidance for meeting sponsor requirements related to data access and dissemination.

ASU Core Research Facilities provide access to advanced equipment, consultation and individualized services to support research across disciplines, budgets and timelines.
Research projects often require agreements or partnerships with external organizations. These resources can help you understand the appropriate processes, agreements and policies for your project.
Working with the ASU Foundation
Some funding opportunities or sponsors may require a 501(c)(3) organization to serve as the submitting entity. In these cases, the ASU Foundation may serve as the submitting organization. Work with your research administrator to determine the appropriate path for your proposal and award.

ASU Contracting Services supports faculty, staff and students in developing, negotiating and executing agreements for research projects and collaborations.

Skysong Innovations manages ASU invention disclosures and intellectual property and serves as the university's technology transfer office. Researchers can attend virtual office hours to ask questions about intellectual property or filing a patent application.

Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation provides entrepreneurial education, venture development programs, mentorship and commercialization support through Innovation2Market (I2M).
