We’re excited to welcome you to your new academic home in the division of the humanities in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University!
Our number one priority is your success, so we hope you'll join us for our free, two-week humanities immersion program. You’ll join fellow humanities majors as you embark on a journey to learn what it means to study, think, and work in the humanities at ASU. Early Start will help you form lasting connections with other students who have a passion for the humanities. From browsing art walks, to watching movies, and going bowling, you’ll experience a lively, engaging, and thought-provoking program designed to help you succeed in your college career.

About Our Program
The 2024 Humanities Early Start Program offers students a unique introduction to the humanities at ASU by exploring what it means to belong to a place, culture, history and language. You’ll also engage with faculty and innovators in the humanities from the university and local community while having the opportunity to explore the greater Phoenix area.
You’ll participate in activities such as:
- Attend First Friday art walks
- Go hiking and watch movies
- Attend ASU Dreamscape
- Learn how to approach coursework
- Begin thinking about careers linked to your major
- Explore campus, Tempe and the greater Phoenix area
- Navigate your major within the context of your interests
- Meet and engage with faculty from across humanities disciplines
- Engage in reading and writing activities that prepare you for your first semester of college
Our Early Start Team
During Early Start, you’ll work with dedicated faculty members and advisors in the humanities who are eager to help you succeed at ASU. You’ll get to know your professors and mentors on a personal and professional level so you’ll be more confident asking for help during the school year.

Schedule
During Early Start, you can expect to be busy each day throughout the entirety of the program.
And we promise — you won’t be sitting and falling asleep in a classroom all day!
Saturday, August 10 through Sunday, August 18
9 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily (including some weekend activities)
