Overview
The Penelope Davis Neuroscience Scholarship was established with the intent of supporting graduate students studying dementia and Alzheimer’s. Individuals conducting research on the topics of dementia or Alzheimer's are encouraged to apply. This award is open to applicants in any program within The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, including those in the humanities and social sciences. Multiple awards with an estimated total pool of $2,500 will be given to students to assist with their research activities.
Applications are due no later than March 13, 2024, for Fall 2024 disbursement. Students graduating in Spring 2024 or Summer 2024 are not eligible.
Eligibility
Recipient must be a student enrolled in a doctoral or master’s program administered by one of the academic units of The College during the Spring 2024 and Fall 2024 semesters. The student must be in good academic standing with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0.
Recipient must also be researching issues on the topics of dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Application Process
All applicants who submit a complete set of materials by the deadline will be considered. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences award committee will review applications by federal, state and university laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Applicants should complete the application form and include the required materials listed below.
Required:
- Faculty letter of recommendation
- General application form submission
- CV
- An essay of a maximum of 500 words that describes how the student and their activities or research meet the objectives of the award
Applications are due no later than Wednesday, March 13, 2024, for Fall 2024 disbursement.
Funds are distributed through ASU student accounts. We anticipate distributing the funds in late April. Students are encouraged to apply early as awards will be distributed until allocated funds are no longer available.
Please be aware that the award may affect your financial aid package; contact Financial Aid and Scholarship Services for information specific to your account. The award will apply to any outstanding balance you may owe to ASU first and any remaining funds will be provided to you via direct deposit or check.
