Overview

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications from outstanding graduate students carrying out biomedical or biotechnological research. The intent of this award is to help advance knowledge about human health through graduate students’ work in these areas.

Applications are due Monday, November 15, 2021. We anticipate up to eight non-compensatory fellowships of $2,000 will be awarded during academic year 2021-2022.

Eligibility

  • Doctoral or master’s degree students enrolled in a graduate program administered by The College during the Spring 2022 and Fall 2022 semesters are eligible.
  • Applicants must be carrying out research related to human health, broadly within biomedical or biotechnological research.
  • Students should demonstrate academic excellence, research and scholarly achievements.

Nomination and Award Process

Applications are available online.

  • Application information requested includes:
    • Name, ASU ID#, Degree program
    • Student CV
    • Student letter (500 words or less; footnotes and citations are included in the word count) explaining how their research will help in the advancing of human health and how the research will further knowledge in their discipline. The committee will not read outside sources referenced in the letter nor statements over 500 words.
    • A letter of recommendation from a faculty advisor/committee chair is submitted separately from the student application and can be uploaded here. All letters should be on department or university letterhead and submitted by the application deadline by the faculty member directly. Applications that do not have a letter of recommendation will not be reviewed.
  • Application timeline:
    • Applications must be completed and submitted online by Monday, November 15, 2021.
    • Announcements will be sent to students by December 31, 2021.
    • Spring 2022 awards will be posted to accounts in early spring.
