Overview

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications from outstanding graduate students carrying out biomedical or biotechnological research. The intent of this award is to help advance knowledge about human health through graduate students’ work in these areas.

Applications are due Wednesday, March 13, 2024. We anticipate up to eight non-compensatory fellowships of up to $2,250 will be awarded for Fall 2024 disbursement.

Eligibility

  • Doctoral or master’s degree students enrolled in a graduate program administered by The College during the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters are eligible.
  • Applicants must be carrying out research related to human health, broadly within biomedical or biotechnological research.
  • Students should demonstrate academic excellence, research and scholarly achievements.

Nomination and Award Process

  • Application information requested includes:
    • Name, ASU ID#, Degree program
    • Student CV
    • Student letter (500 words or less; footnotes and citations are included in the word count) explaining how their research will help in the advancing of human health and how the research will further knowledge in their discipline. The committee will not read outside sources referenced in the letter nor statements over 500 words.
    • A letter of recommendation from a faculty advisor/committee chair is submitted separately from the student application and can be uploaded here. All letters should be on department or university letterhead and submitted by the application deadline by the faculty member directly. Applications that do not have a letter of recommendation will not be reviewed.
  • Application timeline:
    • Applications must be completed and submitted online by Wednesday, March 13, 2024.
    • Students will be notified during the Spring 2024 semester for a Fall 2024 disbursement.
