The next generation of biotech entrepreneurs
An interdisciplinary, industry-informed degree pathway.
The McKenna Life Sciences, Business and Entrepreneurship (MLSBE) Program at Arizona State University defies traditional disciplinary boundaries to prepare academically outstanding students to solve pressing challenges in medicine and biotechnology.
At ASU, program participants study and work in an environment that thrives on innovation. They are surrounded by leading centers and programs in health and bioscience, such as the Biodesign Institute, Phoenix Bioscience Core and ASU’s latest endeavor to change the future of health care, ASU Health. Experts across the university ecosystem are committed to developing interdisciplinary approaches to improving the health of communities, in Arizona and beyond.

Our vision
Forging a new educational pathway
Our vision is to prepare the next generation of leaders in the business and life sciences industries through a carefully crafted program that pushes students to new levels of competence and leadership with enriching learning environments and a strong network of peers and mentors forged from unique shared experiences.
With the reimagined pathway of the MLSBE Program, students will graduate with two undergraduate degrees and a certificate in the same amount of time as other traditional four-year undergraduate single-degree programs.
Students will apply their knowledge in real-world settings and develop their entrepreneurial skills. Aligned with the technological advancements of today and tomorrow, the MLSBE Program weaves in entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence throughout its courses and events while providing access to the university’s cutting-edge resources.
Defy traditional degree boundaries.
From driving research breakthroughs to bringing new treatments to market, life science and business professionals are needed now more than ever. The MLSBE Program has been carefully crafted to build successful entrepreneurs and leaders at the intersection of science and business.
You’ll complete two degrees and a certificate in the same amount of time as a typical four-year degree program.

Participate in personalized cohort experiences.
Through your class cohort, you’ll build a strong network of peers and mentors. All participants receive unprecedented access to industry leaders, mentorship, internships, hands-on research experience, dedicated career advisers and other specialized support.

A bold vision for the future of health care
Established through a generous gift from ASU alumni Mark and Sheri McKenna, the MLSBE Program reflects the couple’s shared commitment to advancing innovation in health care.
Both are graduates of the W. P. Carey School of Business class of 2002 — Mark in marketing and Sheri in finance and marketing.
The McKennas’ gift supports a bold vision: to equip students with the interdisciplinary tools, experiences and networks needed to lead the future of health care, which combines academic excellence with real-world experience and industry access.
