The Maher Alumni Scholarship recognizes an outstanding graduate student participating in cancer research with a faculty member in The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University. The scholarship provides approximately $4,700 and is awarded annually.

Applications are due March 22, 2019

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications from outstanding graduate students who are working on cancer research. The intent of this award is to help support research that will advance knowledge of the disease.

Applications are due March 22, 2019 and funds will be applied to the selected student's account for a fall 2019 disbursement. 

  • Doctoral or master’s students enrolled in a graduate program administered by The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences during spring 2019 and fall 2019 semesters are eligible.

  • Students must be working on advancing cancer research to apply for this scholarship.

  • Students should demonstrate academic excellence, research and scholarly achievements.

  • Application information requested includes:
    • Name, ASU ID#, Degree program
    • Student CV
    • Student letter (500 words or less) explaining their interest in cancer research and how the award will further their work in the field.
    • A letter of support from a faculty advisor/committee chair.
  • Application timeline:
    • Applications must be completed and submitted online by March 22, 2019. 
    • Announcements will be sent to students in April. 
    • Funds will be available in the fall semester of 2019.

  • The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will hold an award ceremony in spring of 2019 to honor the scholarship recipients, including the Maher Scholarship awardee.
