According to the 2015 Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange, Arizona has ranked as the No. 4 overall university for international students. In addition, the university has seen the largest percent increase in its international student population, hosting more than 11,000 students in 2014-15 – a more than 30% increase of growth. ASU is also a ranked as the top public research institution.
Tin Phan, a dual major in mathematics and physics, graduated in the spring of 2016. Originally from Quy Nhon, Vietnam, Phan found his calling through college mathematics. He conducted research in the Mentoring through Critical Transition Points initiative and decided to pursue mathematical biology, a combination of his passion for nature along with his skill in finding patterns and connecting ideas.
ASU alumnus Aditya Dhumuntarao graduated in May 2016 with dual bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and physics. Originally from India, Dhumuntarao found significant success during his undergraduate career as an international student. He earned the Charles Wexler Mathematics Prize, the Outstanding Physics Undergraduate Award and a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship.
