When Congress canceled funding for the Superconducting Super Collider, Irwin Sheer joined Timber Hill Inc., a market maker in equity options, as their advanced software development group leader in 1994. In 1996, he joined BlackRock Inc., one of the premier fixed income asset managers in the U.S., where he now holds the position of vice president. Sheer is responsible for building valuation and term-structure models that are used to manage risks on over a half trillion dollars worth of securities.
